County Report Reveals Marijuana Risks and Addiction Among Teens

(Moorpark Acorn, May 20) A recent paper entitled "What the Science Says abot Adolescent Use of Cannabis" showed that teens in the Ventura County, California area typically began using drugs besides cannabis about 1 to 3 years after starting pot use. In addition, it cites multiple research that shows heavy and early use can be harmful. The paper, produced by the Ventura County Behavioral Health Department, also found that about 98 percent of adolescents in treatment had tried cannabis and most had started when they were 13.
