Colorado Sees Surge in Teen Weed-Related ER Visits

Monday May 8, 2017

(Live Science, May 4)  Colorado saw their weed-related ER visits from teens and young adults surge, new research says.

Researchers looked at ER visits from 13 to 21-year-olds at Children’s Hospital Colorado (or one of its urgent-care centers) between January 2005 and June 2015. They found that visits due to marijuana increased from 146 in 2005 to 639 in 2014.

The state legalized marijuana for non-medical use in 2012.
