(Chek, Dec. 2) As a teenager, Mikaela Mamer had a promising future as a soccer player. But as she went through high school, she started drinking socially with friends, which caused her to black out and try things she ordinarily would not have if sober, such as drugs. When she was 18, she was using crack cocaine and had been in trouble with the law. She finally entered rehab and started to work at the private addiction treatment center. Now 25, she managed to beat drugs, but her boyfriend did not. He had undergone treatment with her, but then relapsed and died from an overdose of heroin and fentanyl. READ MORE.
