Students Hear The Hard Truth About Drug Abuse
(Register-Star, Oct. 12) In upstate New York, sixth, seventh and eighth graders were shown what happens when they are involved with drugs. A bus with a mock jail cell, "drunk goggles" and a wrecked car were some of the items that the students saw that were possibilities of drug and alcohol use. Not intended to be a scare tactic, it was to be a realistic situation. A recovering drug addict talked about his experience with drugs, beginning with prescription pills during his teens that spiraled out of control. Another individual talked about how he was in a car accident at 19 caused by a drunk friend, and made him permanently brain-damaged. READ MORE.
