(HealthDay News, June 1) In addition to affecting your brain development, smoking marijuana could also lead to gum disease, according to a new study.
Researchers looked at data from about 2,000 Americans and found that frequent weed smokers were twice as likely to have gum disease as those don’t smoke weed a lot.
"It is well known that frequent tobacco use can increase the risk of periodontal [gum] disease, but it was surprising to see that recreational cannabis [pot] users may also be at risk," study lead author Jaffer Shariff, a resident at Columbia University School of Dental Medicine, said. Read more.
