As Opioids Ravage the U.S., Teen Students Show Steady Decline in Use
(US News, Dec. 13) A recent "Monitoring the Future" study showed that drug use and risky behavior among high schoolers is declining. High school seniors who tried narcotics, other than heroin, last year, was nearly half of the number who did 12 years ago. Usage peaked to 9.5 percent in 2004 and declined to 4.8 percent in 2016. Experts say the trend may be shifting attitudes and realizing of the dangers and warning signs from peers who might have died or suffered issues from drug dependence. READ MORE.
